About 1,000 labourers will arrive in Australia from Vietnam this year to work on regional farms and help alleviate pressure on Australia’s agriculture sector.

This comes two years after a Memorandum of Understanding was established between the two nations.

Nationals MP Anne Webster said they are “desperate for a workforce” in the agricultural sectors.

“We want to see these workers come to Australia in this year as Labor have said,” Ms Webster told Sky News Australia.

“I will welcome these Vietnamese workers … I will very much be happy when these people enter Australia.”
