Canberra Liberals leader Elizabeth Lee to recontest party leadership after election Canberra Liberals Leader Elizabeth Lee will recontest the leadership of her party following their seventh consecutive election loss.
The Liberals lost this month's election, leaving them to spend another term in opposition.
They also failed to increase their seats from nine.
Ms Lee today said she believed she was the best person to lead the Liberals to the next election and would recontest the leadership at a partyroom meeting on Thursday.
“I have been heartened by some of the discussions that I’ ve had — not just with my partyroom colleagues but also with party elders, party members and the broader community as well,'' Ms Lee said.
"And I still believe that I’m the best person to lead the Canberra Liberals to the 2028 election.''
It's traditional for the Liberal party to spill the leadership after an election loss.
