The circa-1920s mansion in Toorak was advertised with a $45.5m-$50m range.

A Toorak mansion listed with a $45.5m-$50m range has been linked to the father of Australian-Taiwanese actor and model Hannah Quinlivan, who is married to superstar Jay Chou.

The circa-1920, seven-bedroom house set on a sprawling land parcel measuring more than 3000 sq m has changed hands for an undisclosed price.

Records show the home featuring a pool, nine bathrooms and a reception hall was originally listed for sale in September 2025, more than 210 days ago.

The property was sold as the deceased estate of the late Zofia Kipen.

Ms Kipen’s husband Sam was brother to philanthropist, author and academic Israel Kipen, who co-founded Australia’s first Jewish day school, Mount Scopus Memorial College in Burwood.

The Kipens owned the grand residence for more than five decades.

The mansion was built in the Mediterranean Revival style, a seaside villa-like design aesthetic combining Italian and Spanish influences which became popular in the 1920s and 1930s.

The home was held by the previous owners for more than 50 years.

The interiors included richly-coloured wallpaper, chandeliers and a granite fitted-kitchen with a butler’s pantry.

The listing describes the oval-shaped pool as reminiscent of Hollywood Hills’ style.

Melbourne Sotheby’s International Realty Antoinette Nido and Max Ruttner, who had the listing, declined to comment on the sale.

But a caveat was placed on the abode under the name of Patrick Quinlivan, on April 22.

However, this might not be the new owner’s name, as Mr Quinlivan could have purchased the house on behalf of someone else.

Mr Quinlivan is believed to be the father of Australian-Taiwanese actor and model, Hannah Quinlivan.

She’s performed in several films including alongside Dwayne Johnson in the action thriller Skyscraper, released in 2018, and the 2023 sci-fi action thriller Assassin co-starring Bruce Willis.

She’s also appeared on the cover of magazines Vogue Taiwan and Grazia Singapore.

Hannah is married to a Taiwanese singer-songwriter, actor, director, and businessman Jay Chou, known as the “King of Mandopop”.

His Hollywood movies include The Green Hornet with Seth Rogen and Now You See Me 2, and he’s sold more than 30 million records worldwide.

Chou is one the best-selling recording artists in Taiwanese history and six of his YouTube music videos have surpassed a total of more 100 million views.

Chou appeared at the 2026 Australian Open, participating in the knockout exhibition One Point Slam, while he and Hannah have also often been seen visiting Melbourne in recent years.

Industry sources indicated that members of the Quinlivan family had been seen inspecting high-end Melbourne properties of late.

In 2024, harpersbazaar.com.au reported that Hannah and Chou had relocated from Taiwan “to a leafy suburb of Melbourne”.

Antoinette Nido, Melbourne Sotheby's International Realty - for herald sun real estate

Melbourne Sotheby’s International Realty’s Antoinette Nido says Toorak’s market is showing strong demand at the top end for well-located properties set on large land parcels.

Ms Nido said that at the moment, Toorak’s market was showing strong demand at the top end for well-located property with large land holdings.

Along with Mr Ruttner, she oversaw the marketing campaign of a four-bedroom house at 5 Glover Court, Toorak, which sold for $12.4m in March.

Another of their listings, a four-bedroom house at 322 Walsh St, South Yarra, has a new owner who paid an undisclosed sum for the home that was advertised with a $10.5m-$11.5m range.

The Mediterranean Revival Toorak mansion is believed to have fetched the highest-ever price for a private Melbourne residence listed with a female agent.
