Dear Dr Lam,

I was passed on your information from a family friend who has recently visited the website: http://lamhuaxuamauthan1968.blogspot.com.au/

This website is obviously very inflammatory and derogatory and is being operated by a group of people who have no relationship to either myself or my father Mr Cao Minh Ut and is intended to denounce Mr Lam Huu Xua. I am not quite sure what your relationship with this man is, but it appears that you are a medical colleague and in the spirit of collegiality I am reaching out to you to please help my family.

For the past 5 years Mr Lam Huu Xua has been using the nickname ‘mt68’ to denounce my father - who was clearly a veteran in the South Vietnamese Army Artilery Division - for various moderate political opinions that he wrote in emails. These emails were circulated as a chain to various parties which is none of my business really. Obviously everyone is entitled to an opinion and the opinion of my father may not be hand in hand with Mr Lam Huu Xua.

It does however become my problem when Mr Lam Huu Xua publishes my father’s name on websites such as mauthan68hue.blogspot.com.au which claims to have hundreds of visitors as day. The comments Mr Lam Huu Xua posts are very derogatory and references my father as a Communist living abroad. This has and continues to have significant impact upon my family’s reputation.

I attempted to be respectful to Mr Lam Huu Xua by including him in an email to my family lawyer, Mr Jedd Watmore. Overnight your father has continued to inflame the situation by publishing my personal correspondence which was addressed to only my lawyer, my father and Mr Lam Huu Xua and also has negatively influenced my professional and personal standing in the Vietnamese community.

Whatever gripe Mr Lam Huu Xua has with my father, fine it is his business and he is allowed to have his opinion, but to publicly name my father and now, me, in an public forum - which he has been doing so for the past 10 years and proudly states this claim on his website.

I beg you please to show collegiality and help me if are related to Mr Lam Huu Xua as he is being completely unreasonable and my father is visibly distressed at the situation. In the meantime, I have engaged Madgwick Lawyers to prepare for formal legal action as we have all copies of the website Mau Than 1968. With regards to the ‘competing’ website, neither my family nor I have any connection to this and we are more than happy to swear under oath in a court of law
