Imaeda’s wife wept as the landlord was sentenced to 18 months jail.
He will have to serve at least 10 months before he is eligible for parole.
It’s not the first time Imaeda has been in trouble, after a blaze at his industrial lot in Alexandria in 2014.
On that occasion, Imaeda had transformed the lot into illegal student housing, with 15 foreign nationals lucky to survive the blaze.
Imaeda says he will appeal the 18-month sentence he was handed on Thursday.
