Trong một bản tin của BBC Luân Đôn ra ngày 12 tháng 8 năm 2012 đã có bàn đến dự án xây dựng tượng đài các quân nhân  Texas đã chiến đấu tại Nam Việt Nam trong đó BBC nói đến bài viết của ông Ken Herman đã đăng trên internet của trang Statesman.com vào ngày 5 tháng 8 năm 2012 vừa qua

Bài viết của Ken Herman cho biết dự án xây dựng tượng đài tưởng niệm các cựu chiến binh Texas tham chiến tại VN ở thủ phủ Austin Texas đã bị Ủy Ban Xây Dựng Đài Tưởng Niệm cựu chiến binh Texas loại bỏ hình tượng người lính VNCH ra để thay thế vào tượng người lính Á Châu
 
Trích "After much discussion and reflection," Floyd said, "we wanted the monument to represent the ethnic and cultural diversity of Texans serving in the Vietnam War." So the South Vietnamese ally will be out, to be replaced by an Asian American soldier who will join the Hispanic, African American, Native American and white solders on the statue."(Ken Herman)  
Theo Ken Herman trong bản tin update cho biết là " Sau nhiều lần thảo luận cùng những ý kiến phản ảnh thì ông Floyd (Chủ Tịch Ủy Ban Xây Dựng Tượng Đài) đã nói : Chúng tôi muốn tượng đài tưởng niệm các cựu chiến binh Texas đã tham chiến tại VN chỉ thể hiện tính cách đa dạng sắc tộc và văn hóa của người Texas Vì lẽ đó mà hình tượng của người lính đồng minh VNCH sẽ bị bỏ ra và thay thế vào hình tượng người lính Á Châu cùng với người Hispanic, African American, Native American và white solders trên tượng đài.
 
Đây là một hành vi thiếu tính cách công bằng của Ũy Ban Xây Dựng Đài Tưởng Niệm cựu chiến binh Texas tham chiến tại VN đối với cộng đồng ngừơi Việt tỵ nạn cs tại Texas nói  riêng và Cộng Đồng Ngừơi Việt tỵ nạn cs tại hải ngoại nói chung
 
Ngoài tính cách thiếu công bằng và làm tổn thương danh dự ngừơi lính VNCH UBXDTD cựu chiến binh Texas lại tỏ ra thiếu thuyết phục khi cho rằng tượng đài chỉ thể hiện tính cách đa dạng sắc tộc và văn hóa của người Texas khi tham chiến tại VN cho nên không cần có hình ảnh người lính đồng minh VNCH
 
Vậy không lẽ cái đa dạng sắc tộc và văn hóa của người Texas là đi tham dự vào chiến tranh.?
 
Chúng tôi rất ngạc nhiên trong những ngày qua tại Dallas , Fort Worth đã có những buổi họp khẩn cấp chỉ để bàn thảo rất sôi nỗi về Tượng Đài Đứng hay Ngồi của BS Đàng Thiện Hưng và Ũy Ban Xây Dựng Tượng Đài Thương Tiếc Việt Mỹ (?)  mà không thấy một email nào tỏ ra sự phản đối của các cộng đồng và các hội đoàn tại đây lên tiếng phản đối sự mạ lỵ trắng trợn của Ũy Ban Xây Dựng Đài Tưởng Niệm Cựu Chiến Binh tại Austins Texas
 
Người Lính VNCH đã hơn một lần ngậm ngùi uất ức bị bức tử trong cuộc chiến VN đã thấm vào lòng đất mẹ hay lãng đãng ở những khung trời tự do khắp trên thế giới vẫn chưa tan nỗi niềm tâm sự. Hôm nay  tại Texas Ũy Ban Xây Dựng Đài Tưởng Niệm Cựu Chiến Binh Texas lại thêm một lần nữa bức tử sự hiện diện hào hùng của Quân Lực VNCH ra khỏi cuộc chiến tranh VN để thay thế vào một hình tượng Á châu không liên hệ gì đến chiến tranh tại VN
 
Đây có phải một hành vi chính trị hay không, xin thỉnh cầu tất cả người Việt Tỵ Nạn cs trên khắp thế giới hãy nói lên lời công đạo cho Người Lính VNCH và xin hãy cùng  tranh đấu đòi hỏi sự công bằng cho quân đội VNCH.  
Vì danh dự chung của Tập Thể , xin tất cả mọi người hãy dẹp bỏ những đố kỵ giữa cá nhân mà phục vụ phúc lợi chung để thể hiện tinh thần đoàn kết của người Việt tỵ nạn trước hành vi vô hiệu hóa sự hiện diện oai hùng của Quân Lực VNCH trong cuộc chiến tại VN, qua dự án Xây Dựng Đài Tưởng Niệm Cựu Chiến Binh Texas của Ũy Ban Xây Dựng Tượng Đài
 
Chúng tôi xin đính kèm theo đây thư của ông Robert Floyd Chủ Tịch Ũy ban Xây Dựng Đài Tưởng Niệm Cựu Chiến Binh Texas đã trả lời cho chúng tôi sau khi chúng tôi đòi hỏi ông ta phải cho biết lý do gì ông thay thế Tượng hình Người Lính VNCH.
 
Chúng tôi đang chời đợi sự trả lời của ông Robert Floyd thêm một lần nữa trước khi submit một bức thư kêu gọi sự hổ trợ của Thống Đốc Rick Perry cùng các Dân Biểu Nghị Sĩ tại tiểu bang Texas trong việc đòi hỏi sự công bằng cho Quân Lực VNCH. Xin quí vị khắp nơi góp mỗi người một bàn tay trong chiến dịch nói lên lời công đạo này.

Thank you for your inquiry below.  The Vietnam War veterans of the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument Committee appreciate the opportunity to clarify this issue.
The Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument will be a permanent tribute to and reminder of the hundreds of thousands of Texans who left their homes to go to Vietnam to fight – and in 3,415 cases, die – for the liberty and self-determination of the people of the Republic of Vietnam.  The Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument will be the first on the statehouse grounds to represent the ethnic diversity of Texas, and will include an Asian-American figure joining the Caucasian-American, African-American, Native-American and Hispanic-American figures in the infantry patrol.  
After several years of input, the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument Committee entrusted by the State of Texas with the responsibility for raising the necessary funds and complying with State regulations for the Monument unanimously voted more than a year ago to change the Monument from focus on the war to focus on honoring the Texas veterans of the war, including an important adjustment to include appropriate representation by Texas Asian-American veterans.  Though U.S. forces fought alongside allies from several nations, most notably the Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of Korea, and Australia, the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument's focus is, appropriately, on the diverse service of Texans, including Asian-Americans.  The change will ensure the historical accuracy—required by the State Board of Preservation-- of this important tribute to the service and sacrifice of all Texans during the Vietnam War.  The design has been finalized and foundry work has begun on the Monument.
The people of the Republic of South Vietnam are represented in one of the beautifully sculpted bas-relief panels that will comprise the Monument's base.  In addition, the fact this is a monument to honor Texas Vietnam Veterans recognizes the bond between our Veterans and the Vietnamese people. 
The Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument Committee appreciates and looks forward to the continuing support of the Vietnamese-American community in ensuring that our Texas Vietnam War veterans are at long last appropriately honored for their courage, commitment and sacrifice when their nation called them to fight for the people of South Vietnam.   
Mrs. Tran, unfortunately, a few individuals have tried to discredit the work of the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument committee and our two legislative co chairmen, Senator Juan Hinojosa and Representative Wayne Smith and by spreading untrue information. I hope this letter provides you with a better understanding of our intentions, which is to have a historically accurate monument that will be seen by millions of Texas Capitol visitors each year.
